"I
AM ME"
I
sit upon my patio
Where I do lots of thinking
But today my thoughts
Are kinda stinking!
In fact I am mad
Feeling kinda sad
I suddenly am made to see
At my age I should not be!
So well adorned
With thoughts so stable
I should be senile, bent, and unable
But I am none of these by any token
I know that I am growing old
But I do not need to be told
By actions of anyone
I do not fit the scene
As should be...
I AM ME!
The mirror tells me, I am still pretty
I do not groan and have self pity
I walk still with the conquering stride
No matter how I burn inside!
I love a great steak, grilled divine
Lucious, red, heady 'fruit of the vine'
Life has been good
I do not always as I should
The boss I will always have to be
That is part of my personality
I walk in pride, crying
inside....
Laughing outside
I AM ME!
So do not try to make me a mold
Of how you think I should be
Let me live
Still able and free
Do not try to stereotype me
Leave me to my writing and poem
Read what I do not write
Between the lines new thoughts groan
Anger, fear, always alone...
Come sit with me
Share my laughing company
While you can, and when I am gone
REMEMBER....I WAS ME!
