Success and Failure

Tom and Jerry joined a company right after they graduated from College. Both of them worked very hard in their respective assignments. After a couple of years, Tom was promoted and given a hefty pay package with lots of fringe benefits, but Jerry remained where he was. Finally a day came when he could not stand it any longer and resigned with a complaint that the Manager did not value all the hard work he did, but rather promoted those who pleased him. The Manager knew that Jerry was a hard worker, and to make him realize the difference between him and Tom, offered him one final assignment before he left the company.

Jerry was asked to look for a firm dealing in leather jackets. So Jerry went out to explore and came back with the name of a major wholesaler in the district. The Manager asked him what prices can they offer us? Jerry went back and brought the basic pricelist. Now the Manager told Jerry, let me give the same assignment to Tom and see how he performs. Tom went out to explore and came back with a list of 3 wholesalers of leather jackets and their pricelists. He had also negotiated an exclusive contract with one of them which stipulated a 10% extra discount from the list and an additional 5% if a certain sales target was met. Jerry was highly impressed and realized the difference between his way of working and that of Tom. He withdrew his resignation and decided to continue with the company with a new perspective, and in less than a year was promoted with a better pay package and other benefits.

What do we learn from this story?
It is not how hard you work, but how you work. It is a major spiritual law: "Anything done with focus, concentration, awareness and enjoyment, leads to the kind of success one can only dream of". A person who is able to concentrate, focus and at the same time enjoy his work, will always be more successful than others and become a leader in his field.

So all we need is a little more focus, a little more CONSCIOUSNESS to enjoy what we are doing. This Universe needs leaders, and by taking responsibility for our actions, understanding the difference between Failure and Success, we can lead the way!!
